European LSI Development and Engineering Centre

LSI Development And Engineering

Toshiba's European LSI Development and Engineering Centre (ELDEC) was founded in 1996 with the objective of supporting European customers requiring highly integrated and system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. Since then the Centre has grown rapidly and now brings together over 100 highly skilled engineers.  In addition to the local engineering team, ELDEC also provides a link to specialist teams at other Toshiba engineering centres including those in Japan, Taiwan and the United States.

ELDEC engineers are involved in all aspects of LSI development from the design of hardware and software IP building blocks to the implementation of complete systems and the specification and production of design and software tools (details of EDA Tools). The Centre's core competencies range from high-density, complex ASICs (details of ASIC & Foundry) to highly integrated and SoC application specific standard products (ASSPs, details about SoC) and embedded systems based on general-purpose and application-specific microcontrollers and microprocessors. Target application areas for these solutions include telecommunications, networking, multimedia and automotive.

In addition to its hardware and software development expertise, ELDEC also prides itself on the high-quality support that it provides to European customers from pre-sales and design stages, through to prototyping and onto and beyond final manufacture. This support, in conjunction with the IP libraries and design methodologies available from ELDEC, plays a vital role in helping Toshiba's customers to minimise development time and costs and reduce overall time-to-market. At the same time, by establishing specific competencies, producing and exchanging hard and soft IP and sharing its know-how, ELDEC also makes a significant contribution to Toshiba's worldwide design and engineering activities. Furthermore, ELDEC helps Toshiba and its customers to develop an early understanding of market opportunities and future technologies through active participation in relevant European and international standards bodies.

ELDEC is committed to delivering high-quality solutions and services in a timely manner and employs 6 Sigma methodologies for all of its core projects.
