MIPI® Enhanced DIsplay COntroller - TC358732/31/33XBG

Toshiba’s enhanced Display Controller devices TC358731/32/33XBG have been developed to reduce the total system power consumption when large size mobile displays have to be driven. The embedded image buffer enables the connection of displays up to VGA resolution and offloads some performance hungry display tasks from the host CPU. TC358731/32/33XBG will buffer the display content from the host and updates the connected LCD with the required timing and frame rate.

TC358731/32/33XBG support a variety of different host and display interfaces. This makes the product applicable for a wide range of existing and upcoming baseband and application processors. As TC358731/32/33XBG supports high speed serial connections for the host as well as for the display interface, it is very applicable for all different phone types like candy bar, slider, clam shell or twister phones. MDDI(R) VEGAMagiq FWVGA - WVGA - VGA Display Controller - TC358720/21/22/23XBG

VEGAMagiq is Toshiba’s MDDI (Mobile Display Digital Interface) LCD controller, optimized for mobile phones equipped with a high resolution LCD panel. Since the mobile industry trend is going to high-resolution and wide colour range displays in high-end clam-shell style phones, connections between base body and the display subsystem becomes more and more complex.

VEGAMagiq has a high-speed serial digital packet host interface that is compliant with VESA MDDI standard. This serial data interface supports throughputs of up-to 400Mbps by using two low-voltage differential signal pairs. It is compatible to systems that are using Qualcomm’s MSM™ baseband family. Due to the combination of LVDS technology with on-chip eDRAM memory buffer, VEGAMagiq supports VGA size main LCD panel and QCIF+ size sub LCD panel with low EMI emission and high reliability through the handset’s hinge.
