MCU Motor Control

In order to meet the increased demand of having an inexpensive but sophisticated Motor control in White Goods, Toshiba has developed a line-up of MCUs with a special Hardware logic to drive Inverter type Motors. Those types of MCUs are named PMD (Programmable Motor Driver) and can control up to two Motors simultaneously as required e.g. in Air conditioners. 

The PMDs are divided into two segments:-

• Standard Motor control MCUs are generally seen in the market with 6 channel PWM output signal.
• Sine-Wave PMDs are more "intelligent" with a highly developed Motor control unit that provides a lot of additional features such as a sine-wave arithmetic circuit.
