About WEEE and RoHS
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
The European WEEE directive covers back and recycling electrical and
electronic equipment (EEE). It became effective as of August 13, 2005.
The European RoHS directive puts restrictions on the use of certain
hazardous substances in new equipment. This directive became effective
by July 1, 2006.
National regulations have been, or are now being, set up accordingly.
This is to inform you that those EEE, which are supplied into the
European Union by Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH (TEE) comply with the
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive and where
applicable (like for Memory Cards and USB Drive products) with the
Restriction of use of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive.
Measurement appliances as laboratory equipment are currently exempted
from the RoHS directive. However, in line with Toshiba's overall
environmental policy, we put much effort in ensuring that substances
banned for electronic products are not commonly used in this equipment
either. Toshiba continually monitors the applicability of the RoHS
to any of its EEE and will ensure full compliance where appropriate.
Beside this, Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH’s main business is to
provide non-final products like Semiconductor Components, TFT LCD
Modules, Magnetrons and Medical Tubes to producers of EEE.
For some of our customer’s EEE the WEEE and/or ROHS Directive are
applicable with specific exemptions or are not applicable at all.
In line with Toshiba's overall environmental policy, we have been and
are supporting all our customers in reducing the use of specific
hazardous substances to be in line with their legal obligations as
appropriate and at an early stage:
